SPEAKER - CAROL WEISMAN
Carol Weisman was an internationally known speaker on fundraising, governance, and philanthropy for 29 years. Then, at age 70, her world turned upside down.
Her husband of 48 years was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, a devastating disease with no treatment, no cure, no hope. Carol closed her business and spent the next four and a half years caring for him until his death in January 2025. Much of the time was spent carb-loading, but n ever running plus watching endless editions of “Murder She Wrote.”
During the 18 months after her husband’s death, —Carol lost 71 pounds, sampled the pleasures and pitfalls of on-line dating and wrote her 12th book, F*ck ’Em and Feed ’Em: A Woman’s Guide to Love and Marriage. Part memoir, part advice, and part “why didn’t anybody tell me this sooner?”, the book draws on what Carol has learned from other people’s ups, downs and ah ha moments as well as her own marriage.
She is delighted to be back on the speaking circuit, sharing what she has learned about love, marriage, caregiving, loss, laughter, and starting over.
And just to make life more interesting, after her husband died, Carol performed stand-up comedy for the first time. She reports that it was no more difficult than climbing Mount Kilimanjaro—which, for the record, she has wisely chosen not to attempt.
